COVID-19: LATEST UPDATES

Monday, March 30th:


Our office will be closed for regularly scheduled appointments until further notice--as per the recommendation by the College of Audiologists and Speech-Language Pathologists of Ontario. 


If you had an appointment booked, there is no need to call the office. We will call you to reschedule. 


If you have an emergency, please contact our office at 705-222-6442 as we will be available by phone for limited hours. We will call you back and accommodate as best we can. 


Our hours for the week of March 30th are as follows:


         Monday - Thursday:  9am - 3pm

         Friday - Sunday:  Closed

Meet Your Audiologist

LORRIE MATARAZZO, Au.D., REG. CASLPO

  • An audiologist since 1997, Lorrie has a passion for educating her patients so that they understand their hearing loss and solutions to manage it. 
  • A member of Speech and Audiology Canada (SAC), The Canadian Academy of Audiology (CAA) and the College of Audiologists and Speech Language Pathologists of Ontario (CASLPO).
  • Nationally certified since 1997.   
  • Certified in Tinnitus Retraining Therapy (TRT).
  • Lorrie holds a Bachelors Degree in Psychology from Laurentian University, a Masters of Clinical Science Degree from the University of Western Ontario and a Doctorate in Audiology from A.T. Stills University in Arizona.
  • Lorrie works with the Northern Ontario School of Medicine (NOSM) for the Community Learning Sessions, allowing medical students into her practice to observe and learn the importance of hearing healthcare.  
  • Lorrie always encourages significant others and family members to take part in appointments and educational classes.
  • Services provided in English, French and American Sign Language.

As part of our commitment to your personalized hearing healthcare and improving your communication and quality of life, our clinic offers listening and communication enhancement training through LACE ONLINE.

THE EAR-TO-BRAIN CONNECTION

Research has shown that the ear-to-brain connection can weaken due to hearing loss or the natural aging process.  Auditory rehabilitation/training helps strengthen your ear-to-brain connection, improving listening, communication and interaction skills.

LACE ONLINE DELIVERS 4 TYPES OF EXERCISES CRITICAL TO HELPING IMPROVE LISTENING SKILLS

Exercises are delivered in 11 training sessions during the program in four key areas:

  1. Speech-in-Noise:  helps you learn how to pick out a voice in a noisy environment.
  2. Rapid Speech:  helps you develop skills to process rapid speech
  3. Competing Speaker:  helps you learn how to focus on one voice at a time
  4. Word Memory:  helps you remember the words the person talking has said and predict what may come next  

ACCESS TRAINING ANYTIME, ANYWHERE!

You can access LACE training from any web browser with an internet connection - on Apple or Windows computers, as well as iOS and Android devices.
