Hearing Aids

Hearing aids are small computers worn in the ear or behind the ear. Although their function is to provide sound to people in ranges where they do not hear as well, the actual benefits of treating hearing loss include many benefits.

  • The primary purpose of a hearing aid is to amplify sound. It makes sounds louder in specific frequencies, allowing people with hearing loss to perceive speech, music, and environmental sounds more effectively.
  • Hearing aids enhance communication by making it easier to hear conversations, participate in social interactions, and engage with others.
  • Hearing aids contribute to a better quality of life by improving hearing. They allow individuals to enjoy music, engage in hobbies, and connect with loved ones without feeling isolated.

Amplified & Bluetooth Telephones

Listening on the phone can be challenging for someone with hearing loss. Sometimes due to difficulty hearing, people with hearing loss will avoid using the phone.

  • Ability to hear well on the phone allows people to stay connected to family and friends
  • It is important for virtual medical appointments, phones calls with banks, pharmacies etc.
  • On the phone, we lose any visual cues that we would have with in-person conversations
  • Amplified telephones are specifically designed for people with hearing loss, allowing for volume and tone adjustments so that sound can be adjusted to levels necessary to hear more clearly
  • Many have extra loud ringers and/or visual ringers so that calls are not missed
  • Some telephones offer a Bluetooth connection so that phone calls can be streamed directly into hearing aids

Bluetooth microphones can be paired to many hearing aids.

  • They are discreet, easy to use and attach to your partner’s lapel
  • The sound of the speaker’s voice streams directly into the listener’s ears
  • Allows for improved hearing ability when speech is at a distance, when you cannot see a person’s face or in noisy backgrounds
  • Useful in the car, in noisy restaurants, at medical appointments, while shopping, when outside at a distance or in group gatherings

Emergency Alerting Solutions for your Home

Alerting systems allow you to be more aware of your surroundings. Signals are sent to a receiver that uses a loud tone, flashing lights, or vibrations to alert people with hearing loss to various environmental sounds around the house. Most of these devices are wireless and easy to install. These devices can alert you to important sounds such as:

  • Smoke detectors
  • Carbon monoxide detectors
  • Doorbells
  • Phone calls
  • Alarm clocks

Television Listening Solutions

We carry different television listening solutions. For those that do not wear hearing aids, there are earbuds or headphones that can wirelessly connect to your television. These systems have the following features:

  • Different hearing profiles for different members of the family

  • Music boost
  • Left/right balance control

For those that wear hearing aids, we carry wireless TV connector accessories that stream TV and music directly to your hearing aids, allowing your hearing aids to act like headphones. These are easy to set up, can be connected to an app on your phone for greater control of sound. They provide hours of direct streaming at volumes that work for you.

FM Systems

Want to hear better in group settings? FM systems use radio signals to transmit sound.

  • The speaker’s voice is picked up by a microphone and delivers the sound directly into to a listener’s ears or hearing aids
  • Microphones can be worn around the neck or placed table-top
  • Takes sounds that are not easy to hear and brings them closer
  • Used often in noisy restaurants, group gatherings, hearing at a distance, listening at conferences, workshops and meetings..
